Auto Europe describes itself as a "direct agent" for rental companies and acts as a disclosed agent — which is why it cannot issue a VAT invoice. Its voucher confirms the booking, but the rental agreement is concluded locally with the rental company, under that company's terms and local law, and Auto Europe reserves the right to move the booking to another rental company subject to availability. Claims have to be sent in writing within 90 days of the rental ending.

The voucher, a physical credit card in the main driver's name with enough credit for the deposit, and a licence held for at least a year. If the licence is not in the Roman alphabet an International Driving Permit is mandatory, and some suppliers ask for one even when it is. Additional drivers must be on the agreement and bring the same documents.

The rental company, at pick-up: the amount is blocked or charged on the renter's international credit card. The physical card must be presented and debit cards are generally not accepted unless the partner's terms allow it. Auto Europe states it will not refund if you arrive with a card it cannot accept, or a card without enough credit for the deposit.

Cancelling more than 48 hours before the rental starts costs nothing, and there is no amendment fee either. Inside 48 hours no refund is possible. Amendments are subject to availability and to the rate available at the time of the change, and nothing can be changed after the pick-up time.

Unused days are not refunded if you never show up, arrive more than two hours late without contacting Auto Europe, or return the car early. A late return can also be charged extra hours or days at the locally applicable rate.

Auto Europe says every rental supplier sets minimum age requirements and some also a maximum, applying to the main driver and any additional driver, but it publishes no numbers of its own — they appear on the voucher for your specific booking.
